Magic Beans

By Magic Beans - Eric Herman (other events)

3 Dates Through Apr 22, 2023

ABOUT ABOUT

MAGIC BEANS - Magic Beans is a musical, theatrical, magical, and beanical family experience. Eric Herman's hybrid kid concert/stage play explores the magic and wonder of life and the universe through wildly imaginative songs, eye-popping video projections, and interludes and sketches that riff on existential absurdity.

Described as "Shel Silverstein meets The Beatles," Herman is an eclectic and unique voice in the modern kids (or "kindie") music world. His songs and animated music videos have reached over 100 million ears and eyes through YouTube hits that include "The Elephant Song," "Ants in Your Pants #99," and "There's a Monster in My House." In 2020, while recording and mixing his Magic Beans album, Herman also began creating the stage show, inspired by Vegas productions like Blue Man Group, Beatles Love, and Meow Wolf, as well as David Byrne's American Utopia and Sondheim's Into the Woods.

The debut production of Magic Beans was held at the Princess Theatre in Prosser, WA, in March of 2022. The April 2023 production at the Uptown Theatre in Richland promises 8% more magic and 734 more beans.

Providing the character and the music, along with Herman's vocals and electric guitar, are his bandmates, The Puppy Dogs, with Prosser's Ben Macy on accordion, organ, percussion, and vocals, and Pasco's Dave Pettey on acoustic guitar, bass, kick, snare, and vocals. The interlude scenes star Prosser's Cliff Gambke as Professor Physics J. McSciencepants III, Esq., and Richland middle-schooler Helen Davis as Kid. Linus Macy returns as Yellowbird, the violin-playing parrot.
